A few facts about Northern Minnesota
include: Minnesota has the largest wolf population in the
lower 48 states, there are 80 mammal species, 21 amphibian
species, 29 reptile species, 428 bird species, 96 endangered plants
and animals and home to the
largest waterfowl the Trumpeter swan.
The first birds back in the spring are
American kestrel, bluebird, Eastern phoebe, horned lark (January),
red-winged blackbird and robin.
